Middlesbrough College community festival

I worked as part of the sound crew for the Middlesbrough College community festival this year. As with any festival we ran into problems and had to think on our feet and improvise to get the job done.

It was a great little festival, rained for a bit (which was a shame) but otherwise was fantastic! The college really did a good job with this and gave everyone a great time.

Nick Colman and I were running around the college and doing our job as the sound team.

The stage when we get there, lots of work to do my good Sir!

Middlesbrough college... enough said
We started by digging a trench for the multi-core
We "tried" digging a straight line... we failed

Hatching the stage monitors from their shells
Planting the multi-core, gardening at it's finest!

Nick and Ross, the gardening duo
Done!

Ross Deighton (if found, please return)
Nick Colman - WANTED (died or alive)

Rigging up the DAS Aero 12A
line array
These are clever, empty the tank when done.
Should fill it with whiskey and let us drink it!

We're gradually getting there...

Behold the POWER!

Now we just need to raise the line array
from the mortal earth up into the clouds

These things are insane, I stood infront of
them once... NEVER AGAIN!!! :3

The generator failed on us half way through the gig... but we got it up again

Entrance to the stage from the back

Right, here we are! Done and dusted.
Now time to start setting up the drums

We'll get there eventually my friend,
don't worry

Lighting up!

Using the little Yamaha LS9 for the stage
Some power distribution at work

Tinchy Stryder on last! Oh yes boys...
we've made it big time ;)

All set! Now we wait....

Me... being weird
Truly a thing of beauty

And then, it started to rain :3 those poor bass bins

People started coming just before the first band

A kemper profiler!!! I'd never seen one
in real life before! This guy has taste
Interesting... very interesting, I approve

Thunderbirds are go!!
A rather dashing little peddle board I must say
the people start to turn up in the mass

Tinchy Stryder himself
The college looks rather nice at night

All packed away and ready to go home! ^_^

Plasa focus - Leeds

This year I suggested a college trip to Leeds for this years Plasa Focus event which I saw in one of my professional lighting magazines.

I got to play on the new fancy Soundcraft SI Expression due to the very kind people at Soundcraft. It's such a great live desk to use (automated faders never get old ;) ) the colour coding system is a rather smart use of innervation.

Marshall Rig at Middlesbrough college open evening

Myself and a team of highly trained monkeys were asked to setup a stall and advertise our course (Music Technology) in Middlesbrough College. So we decided to bring along our gear and show what we do.... no children were harmed in the making of this (only our dignity.... pfft we never had any to begin with ;) )
The stack of Marshall... unlimited
POWERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

My Marshall class 5 it placed ontop of another pupils 4x12 and rack

My class 5, this beautiful creature is the king of crunch!!

James Snowden, the punk lord of Teesside himself

Rather dashing good Sir

Marshall Class 5 with Rack and 4x12

A punk rock wardlord playing blues...
this isn't going to end well ;)

This guy singing asked if he could play a tune, so we mic'ed him up and let him go.
Turns out he is a rather talented young chap
